Ladies Event Added to 2013 WSOP Europe Schedule

Published by on August 4, 2013

WSOP.com – The World Series of Poker Europe Presented by BarrierePoker.fr has added a new event to kick off the schedule for the 7th Annual World Series of Poker Europe in Paris, France and licensed European tour packager Living it Loving It to launch a one-stop online reservation and registration site to help players plan their journey to the French capital.

Doors will now open a day earlier — on Friday, October 11 at 6:00 PM local time — with a first-ever €1,000 + €100 buy-in Ladies No-Limit Hold’em tournament, structured as a two-day event. The two-week slate of events will feature eight bracelet tournaments – one more than offered in 2012 or 2011.

“We first offered a Ladies event at the Vegas WSOP in 1977, and felt it was the right time to add this tradition to WSOPE,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart, while noting an official gold bracelet will indeed be on the line. “We need to do more to promote ladies involvement with the game, and with the many breakout stars in the region, it feels like a women’s European championship is long overdue.”

The ladies event will kick off the 2013 series, with players playing eight levels on Day 1. Play will continue on Saturday with ten levels or until a winner is crowned, whichever comes first.

The 7th Annual WSOPE will be held from October 11 through October 25, 2013 in Enghien-les-Bains, France, in the suburbs of the world renowned French capital of Paris. (15 km from Paris)

Players will be welcomed into the historic settings of the Casino Barrière d’Enghien-les-Bains, a 100-year-old lakeside casino. In addition to the casino setting, the majority of play will take place across the street at the Convention Center known as “Pergola Nova” which will allow for all regular tournament play to be in the same room for the very first time at a WSOP Europe event.

Two main hotels surround the casino and convention center, the Grand Hotel Barrière and the Barrière Hotel du Lac, which is where we encourage players to make their room reservations to be walking distance from the playing areas. Rates, including breakfast, in-room internet access and fitness center privileges are available for poker players beginning at €198 a night.

As an added convenience, Barrière and the WSOP have partnered with the Living it Loving it group to offer players a convenient and seamless reservation process, including hotel rooms and event registration. For the first time, players may use credit cards to purchase event buy ins.

The entire WSOP gold bracelet schedule will feature 46 side events during the two-week poker series. The first open bracelet event of the series will begin on the weekend, featuring a No Limit Hold’em re-entry event at 12 noon on Saturday, October 12 (Flight A) and Sunday, October 13 (Flight B). Those who bust out of Flight A may re-enter Sunday’s Flight B.

The 2013 World Series of Poker Europe will be televised around the world, including ESPN and Eurosport. In 2012, WSOPE programs were broadcast on Eurosport in Europe, and ESPN networks around the world. WSOPE remains the only European poker event to be televised in the U.S.

Organizers are expecting a large turnout as host partner Barrière has committed to qualify a minimum 100 players for the €10,000 Main Event through land-based and online promotions. Additionally and new this year, live web streaming sponsor 888 Poker has pledged to qualify a minimum 50 online qualifiers for the Main Event, plus additional packages for the preliminary bracelet events. European players looking to qualify for WSOPE should log on to barrierepoker.fr or 888poker.com for additional details.
